AW a neocon.….…nah don’t think so. If you are many of my other miladiadtary fridens are.……ah they aren’t either. Most career miladiadtary peoadple look at things with a difadferadent set of eyes even more libaderal ones like me and my sons but the very fact that we do and have done things most of the rest of the popaduadlaadtion never have or evera0will.Now I refute either Fili or I being pateradnaladisadtic of the Iraqi miladiadtary. I am fully ready to say that they have units that are capaadble. The probadlem is they have too many units that aren’t capaadble yet and who knows may never be capaadble but they do keep tryading. As far as sayading they have a staadble government.……I would feel more conadfiaddent in that if they could actuadally get one together since the last elecadtion, that they haven’t and show no real progress toward actuadally doing so is conadcernading. My comadments on the bases of course reflects that the iraqi miladiadtary couldn’t use all of them but they sure as hell could have used stuff that was there and that in far too many cases indiadvidaduadals were there waitading to lug stuff off with out any Iraqi miladiadtary intevenadtion when they had been the only ones informed of turn over date is also a litadtle worrying.AW I have sevaderal fridens that are still driadving trucks over there. They are amazed how much stuff they have had to haul to Kuwait just to keep it out of the hands of peoadple neiadther we nor the Iraqis want to have it. All that would have been required would have been for Iraq to ask for it to be dropped at one of the major bases (which has hapadpened) but the Iraqis can’t seem to get their act together to make that hapadpen on a regaduadlara0basis.My son still comuadniadcates regaduadlarly with some of the folks he worked with over there (Iraqi transadlaadtors) theirs is often an interadestading read on the sitaduadaadtion. Much conadcern by some pretty bright and very couraadgeous people.a0
The overall objective of IWPR’s program in Afghanistan is to contribute to democracy and peace through a sustainable improvement in the level of public debate and information exchange.
This is done by developing professional reporting skills and improving the capacity of local and regional media to function as independent entities; the tools used include institution building, practical training and information production and dissemination.
IWPR began work in Afghanistan shortly before the fall of the Taleban, and over the past several years has expanded its activities throughout the country. Major achievements include the creation of Pajhwok Afghan News, the first independent news agency in the country, as well as the establishment of media centers in most major urban centers and smaller provincial capitals.
